The war between Georgia and Russia in August 2010 when Russia sent its tanks into Georgia’s breakaway region of South Ossetia may have lasted only five days, but war rarely ends when the cease-fire is signed.

The victims of that short but bloody conflict are just the latest to join the ranks of Georgia’s displaced population living in abandoned apartment blocks, schools and government ministries, mainly in the countries capital of Tbilisi. Since 1991, thousands of families in Georgia have been uprooted and torn apart by the separatist conflicts. The real victims are the women, struggling to hold war-torn families together.
